Project Update #01
The Spire of St Ignatius Church is undergoing works to protect and ensure the longevity of this historic and iconic architecture of Richmond.
The works to Spire include:
Restoration of the exterior masonry of the spire, including tooling of delaminated stone, repointing of joints and tinting of tooled stone,
Replacement of some concrete louvres to Belfry to match original,
Monitor vertical cracking over the next 12 to 24 month period to ascertain whether movement is active,
Carry out miscellaneous stormwater drainage repair works, including sealing the junction of downpipes to drains currently not sealed,
Concrete repairs to internal concrete floors in spire, including cutting out and replacement of corroded reinforcement or cleaning and coating of corroded reinforcement; reinstatement of concrete section where there has been spalling or cutting back to expose more reinforcement; coating of the concrete top surface to prevent future water / moisture ingress, and epoxy fill crack to the Level 7 slab.
Lightning conductor system inspection and repair as and if required
Works are expected to be completed in late 2021.
